The large cargo basket comes in a two piece set and allows you to transport a lot of extra cargo that you wouldn’t be able to with a normal roof rack. Having a deep, five inch frame structure gives you not only a place to attach cargo nets or bungees, but also a way to keep your luggage contained inside the cargo basket as it sits on your roof. The roof rack’s clamps are adjustable and they are tightened by using a keyed allen wrench that is included in the set. The keyed allen wrench also acts as security so the steel roof cargo basket doesn’t fly off or get stolen from your vehicle. The rubber coating that comes on these clamps prevent your vehicle from getting scratched or dinged.
Discount Ramps item number ER-08208 is the steel roof cargo basket. The platform is 30.25 inches wide, 45.25 inches long and 5 inches deep. The cross bar specs are 3.5 inches wide and 1 inch thick it also has a 1.25 tube thickness making it safe, efficient, and very sturdy. The weight capacity is 150 pounds evenly distributed across the roof cargo basket. It will sit nicely on your factory roof rack with its universal fitting mounts and aftermarket crossbars. To protect your vehicle’s roof from scratching or denting, it features rubber coated clamps to further help protect your vehicles factory finish. The steel roof cargo basket is powder coated black, and the hardware that comes with it is powder coated black. There is an optional wind fairing that we recommend and this unit comes with a 1 year manufacture’s warranty from Rage Powersports.
ER-08208-F is the optional wind fairing, and it weighs a mere 1 pound. Its reduces the wind noise and keeps your vehicle aerodynamically sound in windy freeway conditions. The wind fairing fits the cargo basket very nicely and cuts down on drag. Additionally, it cleans up the look of the exposed cargo bars nicely.
