How To: Requirements for Harmar Lifts

What special considerations do I need to know about the Harmar Lifts?

The Harmar Lifts have different distances in which they can travel from the ground to loading or traveling height.

The Outside Lifts (Example: AL100) will travel 19″ from the top or stored position to the ground without the Swing Away Optional Attachment and will travel 17″ from the top or stored position to the ground with the Optional Swing Away Attached.
**One exception to the outside lift distance is the AL 003 which is a manual lift and has a height of 12″**

If your vehicle’s receiver hitch is higher then this height there are optional drop down receivers available.

The size drops that would be available are:

  • 2″ Class III hitch adapter with a 2″ drop
  • 5″ Class III hitch adapter with a 5″ drop
  • 6″ Class III hitch adapter with a 6″ drop
  • 4 1/4″ Class II hitch adapter with a 4 1/4″ drop

The Inside Lifts (Example: AL 600) have a maximum travel distance of 33″ which is the longest in the Industry.

How does Stow and Go seating affect the lifts?

If your vehicle has third row Stow and Go and you are purchasing an AL 600 you would need a Base Adapter (BA 02). The Base Adapter will distribute weight through the seat well and will eliminate stress from the seats.
If you are purchasing an AL 410, AL 420, AL 210, AL 220 and your vehicle has third row Stow and Go you will need to purchase a Base Adapter (BA 01) again to distribute the weight to the vehicle, not to the plastic seat cover.

*Special Note*
The Cadillac Deville has a recessed hitch which would require a customer to purchase an extended receiver before the outside lift would be able to be mounted.
